Mortimer "Mort" Atherton
Birth: Mar. 24, 1827
Indianapolis
Marion County
Indiana, USA
Death: 1898
1880 census: lumber dealer
Son of Willis G Atherton, in Indianapolis, In
Mortimer Atherton, was born near Indianapolis in 1827 or '28, but came with his parents to Anderson when quite young, and has resided here ever since, a period of nearly fifty years.
Has been engaged in the lumber trade, and quite lately he has built in connection with his lumber yard a planning mill, and to-day (1888) is well established. About the year 1850 he married Matilda Van Nort, who was born in Virginia about the year 1828 or '29 and came with her parents to Madison County in 1836. He is the father of D Atherton, of Anderson, and other children their names I do not know.
