Mrs. Myrtle Mae Atherton, 80, Route 4, a long-time Topekan, died today at a local hospital. She had respiratory and heart ailments.
She was born April 2, 1891, at Pierce, Neb., and moved in 1892 with her parents to Lyle in Decatur County, Kan.
She was married May 5,1915, in Decatur county to Earl Atherton, who survives at home.
She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church and the Happy Homemakers Club. She was a charter member of the Victory Highway Club. She taught school in western Kansas earlier in her life.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Donald Clemens, Torrance, Calif., two sons, Eugene Atherton, Riverside, Calif., and Rozelle Atherton, Auburn; a brother, Irvine Brown, McCook, Neb., 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary,. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
