Funeral rites for James Atherton, 67, resident of Port Arthur for 30 years who died Wednesday, were held today at 9 a. m. at St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial was in
Calvary cemetery under direction of Grammier's.
Pallbearers were A. A. Martinez, J. P. Foret, R.Y. Price, T. Prince, P. J. Doyle and Pete Chauvin. All friends of the family were honorary pallbearers.

He was the son of George Atherden and Ellen Quinn in Quebec. He moved to Chicago around 1890, married a Canadian there and had 2 children. His wife Johanna died there and he returned to Canada with the children. His daughter died soon afterwardrds in Quebec City, and he left his son George there with relatives. He then moved to Montreal and married again; they had a little girl but his new wife and daughter died within a year or two. He disappears for a bit before marrying a third time in Port Arthur Texas and having 3 more children, two of whom survived; one had children of her own who still live in the area. My grandfather stayed with them when he was a young man
