Winfield newspaper article:
Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Hess of 819 East Ninth and little daughter, Rhieva, got back Thursday night from Denver, where they went to have the little girl treated, at the meeting of the national association. An operation for the closing of a cleft palate was successfully preformed by Dr. Brophy of Chicago, the first of the profession to ever try that difficult feat. He has made a reputation at it and this operation was performed in demonstration to the association. The little girl, who is three years and a half old, is now normal, the cleft having been entirely closed.
