Katherine Louisa (Aunty Kitty) used to grow flowers for the market, particularly roses and gladioli. she also grew marrows. One time a herd of elephant decided to take a shortcut near the house and walked straight through the marrow patch. She also made chocolates in quite large quantities (we used to be given a bag of either chocolate or coconut fudge every time we visited her in Romsey). Katherine met Hugh Kennedy on a ship to Kenya. Hugh was returning from leave while Katherine was going out to visit Francis Sturges.
