      Mr H.Atherton.
      A retired waterman with the Salt Union and I.C.I., Mr Herbert Atherton aged 82, of 91 Gladstone Street, Winsford, was cremated at Crewe Crematorium on Saturday. The Rev. M. Pemberton officiated at a service in the house and at the Crematorium.
      Mr Atherton, a widower, leaves four daughters. He had a great interest in football and in his younger days was a keen bowler. Mourners were: Mrs Biddington, Mr & Mrs S.Fletcher, Mr & Mrs F.Gerrard, Mrs Long (sons-in-law and daughters); Mr M.Fletcher, Mr J.Fletcher (grandsons), Mr & Mrs L.Gilbert, Miss Atherton, Mrs Davies, Mr & Mrs J.Wilkinson (brothers-in-law and sisters), Mrs N.Massam, Mrs O.Vernon, Mrs Noden (neices), Mrs G.Dodd (cousin), Mrs L.Yearsley, Mr & Mrs Panders, Mrs Postles, Mr & Mrs F.Bracegirdle, Mrs W.Kennerley, Mr M.Price (representing I.C.I.).
